Obama supporters are gathering today at noon in a show of enthusiasm for Senators Barack Obama and Joe Biden with a rally on the Swinging Bridge in Hanapepe as part of the worldwide Bridges for Obama initiative, according to a press release.
Since the first photograph, in Vienna, Obama Bridge photos have been done on five continents, in over 40 nations. The historic Hanalei bridge hosted a similar event earlier this year.
Bridges have been chosen as the ideal symbol for the candidate who seems capable of bringing together all constituencies: young and old, black and white, wealthy and blue collar, even disillusioned Republicans, and, of course, Democrats and Independents.
The Westside event has been organized by members of the Kaua‘i Democratic Party Barbara Alexander, of Kekaha, and Bevin Parker-Evans, of Oma‘o. Parker-Evans organized the August event in Hanalei.
Supporters will gather at noon on the makai side of the footbridge, and the picture will be snapped at 12:30 p.m. Organizers will be selling t-shirts and providing free bumper stickers.
For more information, contact Alexander at 337-9682 or 651-2488.
