Kaua‘i Independent Daycare Services (K.I.D.S.) School will host its 20th Annual Holiday Craft Carnival and Tony Kunimura silent auction from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Nov. 8, at its Inia Street school in Kapa‘a, behind First Hawaiian Bank on the beach.
Each year the auction features gifts such as a hand-tooled hunting knife with a turquoise embellished handle; collector’s item posters; certificates for dinners; hotel stays; recreational activities; handmade quilts; art; and Hawaiiana decor.
The carnival will feature food, shave ice, baked goods, children’s games and activities including face painting, fish pond and rides with trampoline and inflatable bouncer as well as keiki rides. Some of Kaua‘i’s best crafters will display their wares for sale.
Proceeds will benefit the K.I.D.S. School, a non-profit preschool for 82, 3 and 4 year olds. K.I.D.S. curriculum is based on every child experiencing activities daily that stimulate the left and right hemispheres of the brain.
This past year the school shared insight on its unique program with kindergarten teachers from Kapa‘a, King Kaumualii Elementary and Wilcox Elementary schools.
Being an independent, non-profit organization with no sponsorship (such as church or government), K.I.D.S. School relies on its silent auction to raise funds for the school.
Additional information about donating to the silent auction, to receive an application for a crafter’s table, or to learn more about K.I.D.S. School call Phyllis Kunimura at 822-0262.
