Community Education group brings conference to Kaua‘i

Kaua’i Association of Family Community Education will host its statewide convention Oct. 24 to 26 at the Aloha Beach Resort. Guest speaker Ron Kikumoto will give a talk on “Sacred Wailua.” One hundred and twenty-five members from nine councils across the Islands will be in attendance.

Co-chairs Gladys Fujiuchi, Sanae Morita and the eight chapters from Kaua’i organized the convention. The theme is “Aloha Aku No Aloha Mai,” which translates as, the spirit of aloha is given and received.

One evening each council will present a skit of “Legends from the Islands.” During the convention there will be a mini bazaar and many workshops including: lauhala weaving, a cooking demonstration and one on Hawaiian herbs.

The group will also host a train ride at Kilohana.
