The Kilauea Neighborhood Association has announced that Picnic in the Park, to be held tomorrow in Kilauea Park, will include a parade, entertainment, food, fun games and activities, and large inflatable waterslides.
The KNA’s annual fundraiser is set to kick off at 9:30 a.m. with a parade through Kilauea town, led by Kelii Alapai and starting at Kilauea School. Decorated cars and wagons march to the music down Kolo Road, Kilauea Road, the Dispensary Park, Keneke Street, Kahalou Road, and Kelekolio Road, ending at the park and soccer field behind the Kilauea Gym.
Parade prizes will be awarded for Best Decorated Vehicle, Best Decorated Bike, Best Decorated Pet, and Best Overall. The Kilauea Seniors will be the judges.
Activities include a dunking booth, softball throw, face painting, cake walks, and tug-of-war, amongst others. Also, try your luck at the Silent Auction, where auctioned items range from restaurant gift certificates to nights at vacation rentals.
The entertainment lineup includes the Kilauea Social Club, Sam Mahuiki and Ho‘olea, the Hula Halau o Hanalei, the Hula Halau o Na Opio o Halelea, and Mike Lateif & Friends.
Finally, community groups will also have booths, including Malama Kaua‘i, Kaua‘i Fresh Farms, and the Kaua‘i Humane Society.
Admission to the event is free, but there will be minor charges for some of the activities, games and food. Ride-all-day waterslide wristbands will be $5.
