Dean Nakayama is happy because he just got his University of Hawaii football season tickets … same seat as last year, just a little higher in price. Actually, Dean has been having a pretty busy weekend, noting that the Pearl City visitors Stan and Jan Shota (their daughter is the coach for the Pearl City High School girls volleyball team) were in Kaua‘i Bakery after their picture came out on the front page of TGI, recently.
Dean said with Mr. Kim Murakami closing the Wailua Family Restaurant, we need family-style places to eat … J Robertson’s choice is IHop (have you seen the prices, lately?), or Anna Miller’s (is that the place with the lemon meringue pie?) out in Pearl Ridge.
But chef Martina Hilldorfer (she just got through doing 20 places for less than $20) said Carrows and Jason Sunada said maybe Dani Morioka (Dani’s in Lihu‘e) should consider opening for dinner since there is no place where families can eat anymore.
Of course, there’s Kenny Ishii and his saimin menu (Robert Higashi has some really good chili peppa water), but where else?
There’s just two more days before we get our first taste of football … Friday night it’s out to Coach Kelii Morgado’s turf and Saturday night, we can check out both coach Jon Takamura’s JV squad and coach Derek Borrero’s Red Raiders. You can be sure there’ll be good food at both these places.
In the meantime, there’s still leftover Zippy’s chicken in the refrig.
