WAILUA — John McCain supporters had an opportunity to meet Dick Godbehere, the presidential candidate’s Kaua‘i campaign coordinator, at a rally Thursday.
T-shirts, bumper stickers and a variety of McCain for President items were available at the event hosted by Godbehere at his Wailua residence.
“When I was living in Arizona, I was a retired Navy commander and got to know John when he was running for Congress,” Godbehere said. “When he got elected, I was serving as his Veterans Committee Chair.”
Godbehere, a general contractor, said after moving to Kaua‘i, he had no contact with McCain until he was contacted by McCain’s O‘ahu campaign and asked to coordinate a Kaua‘i effort.
Among those who took advantage of the event to help spread their campaign messages, Bob Bartolo said he cut his AYSO soccer practice short to come and mingle with guests.
JoAnne Giorgi and Ron Agor also made appearances, as did longtime GOP supporter Ed Ka‘ahea.
