Congratulations to Sue Strickland and all the hard-working Friends of the Children’s Justice Center of Kaua‘i on a great fundraiser, Friday evening.
J Robertson did a great job emceeing the event, and a lot of the Kaua‘i County hopefuls were in attendance. Coach Dean Pigao was hard at work behind the beverage bar, as was Mary Pigao, and Cathy Shanks said she was out early volunteering.
Tom Niblick and Deborah Gia (they adopted the four-day workweek, too) took advantage of the event at the Kaua‘i Lagoons tennis courts (Deborah said they’re off to states on the 3.5 level) and no one had to check Norman Ka‘awa Solomon’s footwear this time.
Greg Meyers (you gotta check out his new baby) had time to chat with Mel Rapozo and Dr. Paul Esaki is already anticipating the start of KIF football (Manny Henriques was doing the Red Raider pix, Saturday).
Janice Bond was reminiscing about the days when she worked at Kaua‘i Lagoons (how many remember when they put boards over the pool for the Mrs. America pageant?), and since the event was at the tennis courts, Tracy Tucker and Caroline Lum were not going to miss it.
OK, time to get ready for the state senior softball tournament (Peter Rayno and Ernie Domingo were doing the breakfast and lunch circuit, Saturday).
