There will be a baking contest for muffins in three classes: cornmeal, fruit or bran muffins. Only one entry for each class may be submitted. The recipe must accompany each entry.
The special ingredient contest will have four classes using a coffee flavor: bread and muffins; cakes; cookies and “other” coffee desserts. Only one entry for each class may be submitted. The recipe must accompany each entry. No entries will be accepted if needing refrigeration.
The special craft contest theme is “fairy tale friends.” Dress a stuffed bear, animal or doll in a costume representing a fairy tale. No commercially dressed entries or kits will be accepted. All costumes must be original and handmade. Only three entries per person. Size is limited to 18 inches. Read the rules on the entrance sheet carefully. Kaua‘i residents may also enter in the preserved foods, clothing, needlework, arts and crafts contests.
On Aug. 28 submit entries between 9 a.m. and noon. There will be cash prizes and ribbons for bakers and crafters.
