The Hanapepe Stadium will be the host site for the 33rd Annual Hawai‘i State Senior Softball tournament, it was announced yesterday.
The tournament, which starts on Aug. 5 and runs through the week, will have 46 teams — 19 from the Big Island, 12 from O‘ahu, eight from Maui and seven from Kaua‘i.
The last time Kaua‘i hosted the tournament was four years ago. The tournament is on rotation so that every island gets to host it every four years.
This is the second tournament Hanapepe Stadium has hosted this season, the third Kaua‘i has hosted within the summer and the fifth state tournament overall this year.
The Little League Majors tournament wrapped up on Thursday at the New Kapa‘a Town Park, the PONY Baseball Bronco State Tournament was at the beginning of the month at Hanapepe.
The Wailua Golf Course hosted the boys and girls Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association State Golf Championships in May.
