Wailua-Kapa‘a Neighborhood Association continues its monthly guest speaker series with “Let’s Get Moving — A Look at East Kaua‘i Traffic Solutions” presented by Steve Kyono, Kaua‘i District Engineer, Highways Division of the Hawai‘i State Department of Transportation. The free talk will begin at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Kapa‘a Library meeting room hosted by the W-KNA.
As concerns about traffic congestion continue, there are also some solutions moving forward. Kyono will discuss what’s in the works for the Kawaihau District from a State Highways perspective.
He will provide a status report on the Wailua Bridge widening project and the fourth lane expansion of Kuhio Highway from the bridge to the bypass road. Kyono will also share updated timelines and information about the proposed alignments for crossing Wailua River mauka of Kuhio Highway, providing an inland alternative safe from coastal disasters.
Participants will find out whether there are other relief routes planned like the Pouli Road connector from the rear of Waipouli Foodland to the bypass or a traffic circle at the juncture of Kuhio Highway, Hau‘aala Road and Kawaihau Road.
Association secretary Sid Jackson hopes residents will take this opportunity to bring their questions.
“Direct dialogue is the best way to communicate with the government entities that provide our vital public services
