Now, if Kalani is in California, who’s going to cheer on the Junior Lifeguards whose island finals are today? Roy Yamagata is sure to be there, and perhaps, Monty Downs of the Water Safety Task Force. Last year, there were a lot of Swim Kaua‘i Aquatics swimmers who were part of the island team so this year, maybe even coach Billy Brown will make an appearance.
For those of you who don’t believe you can get gourmet food at plate lunch prices, Mark Oyama has been doing it for 10 years, and Joy Miura-Koerte just released the menu for the Ultimate Plate Lunch.
Chef Alan Wong is coming down to prepare soy braised shortribs with gingered shrimp and ko choo jang sauce and Mark’s Place chef Kevin Nakata is adding crispy sauteed moi with Hawaiian salt caramel and pickled onions. And it’s not a plate lunch without mac salad, and Joy said it’s on the menu, too. There is only a limited supply of tickets, so get yours at either the Puhi or Lawai location of Mark’s Place for the Aug. 1 Ultimate Plate Lunch.
If you miss out, there’s always the beef stew.
