Donald Fujimoto, Kaua‘i County engineer, will be the guest speaker at the Koloa Community Association general meeting Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Koloa Neighborhood Center.
General topics covered will be the Koloa-Po‘ipu circulation plan, the crepe myrtle trees and other development in the Koloa-Po‘ipu area.
Fujimoto is responsible for the operation and administration of the Department of Public Works. The Kaua‘i Department of Public Works consists of six major divisions and two support administration sections:
• Engineering
• Building
• Solid Waste
• Wastewater
• Highways
• Automotive/Heavy Equipment Maintenance
• Fiscal Administration
• Personnel
The functions of the Department of Public Works include the planning, design, building, maintenance and improvements of county-owned facilities, as well as roads, streets, bridges, highways, drainage and flood control systems, refuse collection, and wastewater and disposal services. Other responsibilities are review and enforcement of codes and regulations relating to public and private construction work, and maintenance of the county parks.
The Koloa Community Association meeting on Thursday will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Koloa Neighborhood Center. It is open to the public.
