Hawai‘i Children’s Theatre Summer Stars perform Disney’s “AristoCats” which features the younger children July 10 to 13. The Kauai Society of Artists and Kaua‘i Bonyu Kai invite the public to a summer exhibit of fine bonsai Kaua‘i style held at the KSA’s gallery at the Kukui Grove Shopping Center. This evening bonsai display will be on pedestals under lights. There will be narrated tours of the exhibit provided by club members. The exhibition runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Kauai’s largest ocean education event with hands-on learning is tomorrow at the Kilauea Lighthouse. This year’s focus celebrates the “International Year of the Reef” and educational spin-offs from Nim’s Island movie.There will be 15 educational and activity booths; free materials for educators and free admission. Bus shuttles are provided to the refuge and fair from off-site parking at Kaua‘i Christian Academy. NTBG offers the chance to volunteer in a remarkable setting, expand your knowledge of tropical plants, and grow as you give back to the community. There are many opportunities, including working with plant specimens, assisting in the library, or helping with student or visitor education programs. Kaua‘i Museum through July 25
Antique quilts from the Kaua‘i Museum collection as well as quilts from the community are shared in the main gallery exhibit. Learn some of the unique traditions tied to this art form as practiced on Kaua‘i. See the entire collection of W.J. Senda photographs of the 1933 Mokihana Club of Kaua‘i’s first-time quilt exhibit as shown on a slide show with two of the quilts on display in the gallery.
