The person found dead at Port Allen May 31 has been identified as 51-year-old Waimea resident Michael Lindholm, a county spokesperson said yesterday.
An announcement had been delayed as next of kin on the Mainland was being located, Detective James Kurasaki said earlier in the week.
“As far as I know, he had no relatives in Hawai‘i,” said Kurasaki yesterday.
According to the Kaua‘i Police Department, a passer-by in the small boat harbor parking lot noticed a strong odor coming from a Chevrolet sport utility vehicle and, upon inspection, discovered the body.
Kurasaki said yesterday that police had no reason to suspect any foul play or drug issues, and expected further information upon completion of a pending autopsy.
