Leadership Kaua‘i received a donation to help it with the mission of educating and inspiring Kaua‘i’s future leaders. Tom and Bonnie McCloskey, two of Leadership Kaua‘i’s founding members, recently donated $20,000 that will provide Kaua‘i residents with the opportunity to increase their potential to serve the community collaboratively. The money will help Leadership Kaua‘i continue its community programs and ensure that a diverse group of community participants will be engaged within the formation of its upcoming class, states a Leadership Kaua‘i press release.
Over the last three years Leadership Kaua‘i graduated 76 leaders to serve the island community’s needs. There are 20 adult participants in the 2008 leadership program and 17 youth recently graduated in April. The adult class graduates June 20 at the Sheraton Kaua‘i Resort.
Leadership Kaua‘i seeks to develop leaders with awareness and sensitivity to Kaua‘i’s culture; to educate leaders who will succeed in this unique environment and within the global economy; to motivate leaders to effectively address community needs and improve the quality of life and establish and expand the ranks of Kaua‘i’s leaders.
Leadership Kaua‘i is currently accepting applications for the 2009 adult and youth leadership programs. For more information contact the Leadership Kaua‘i office at 246-8727.
