Betty Morikawa-Hamamura of Lihu‘e died May 18, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 80. Born Jan. 3, 1928, in Wailua, O‘ahu, she was retired after 30 years with state of Hawai‘i as secretary for Department of Taxation.
She was preceded in death by son Harold Hamamura and great-grandson Jacob Naito-Perez.
She is survived by husband Shigeto Hamamura of Lihu‘e, daughter Rose (Alan) Naito of California, sisters Kaoru Higashi of Lihu‘e and Lani Turner of O‘ahu, two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will begin 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at Kapaa Missionary Church with memorial services beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is assisting the Hamamura family with arrangements.
Carlos D. Pascual of Hanama‘ulu died on May 21, 2008, at the age of 87. Born Nov. 6, 1920, in the Philippines, he retired as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and then worked for Westin Kauai in its engineering department.
He is survived by wife Editha Pascual; daughters Carolina (Art) Maghanoy, Elaine (Jon) Pingue, Melody Pascual and Jane Pascual; son Roberto (Harlean) Pascual; sister Gloria Rogel; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
Visitation with the family will be held from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, at Immaculate Conception Church; mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
