Kilauea couple dies in Moloa‘a crash

Paul and Laurie-Ann Goodrich of Kilauea died Sunday morning in a car accident at a hair-pin turn on Ko‘olau Road near Moloa‘a.

According to officials, Paul Goodrich, 50, was driving a 1994 Porsche convertible, with his wife Laurie-Ann Goodrich, 46, in the passenger seat, at around 8:40 a.m. when he lost control of the car.

The car went off the road, slid down a slope and struck a tree, officials said.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police officials say speed may be a contributing factor to the accident.

Acquaintances say the Goodriches were on a Mother’s Day drive around the island with other Porsche owners at the time of the crash.

The Goodriches are the sixth and seventh traffic fatalities this year on Kaua‘i.
