The Department of Transportation anticipates traffic delays next week as it continues improvement work around the island.
Delays can be expected between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday due to the following ongoing projects:
Kaumuali‘i Highway
• In Lawa‘i west of the Koloa Road intersection near Mile Post 10.7. The speed limit has been reduced and travel lanes narrowed and shifted temporarily for shoulder work.
• In Koloa approximately one mile east of Maluhia Road, near Mile Post 5.7, for shoulder lane improvements.
• In Lawa‘i east of the Piko Road intersection near Mile Post 9.8 for shoulder lane improvements.
• In Kalaheo between Lauoho Road and Hokua Road near the Kalaheo Jelly Factory for drainage and shoulder lane improvements.
Mokulele Loop at
Lihu‘e Airport
• Mokulele Loop at Lihu‘e Airport for pavement resurfacing night work. Night work from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., tonight through Friday. Daytime work Thursday and Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Kuhio Highway
• Near the Wainiha Bridges for bridge installation and pavement surfacing work.
• On Kuhio Highway in both directions in Anahola between Hui Road (near Mile Point 15) and Ko‘olau Road (near Mile Point 20) for pavement resurfacing.
• North of Kilauea Town between Kilauea Road and Kalihiwai Road for guardrail repairs and shoulder lane maintenance. The Department of Transportation has installed temporary traffic signals at the intersection. Motorists are advised to beware of reduced speed limits.
• In Kealia near the Pili Mai Ke Kai subdivision between Anahola Road and Kukuihale Road for intersection improvements and shoulder maintenance.
Ma‘alo Road
• Ma‘alo Road for pavement resurfacing during the day.
Waialo Road
• Waialo Road for Kaua‘i County sewer system installations.
