Waimea’s Caralyn Broyles was a dual event state qualifier, earning a state time in the Girls 800 Meter Run where she tripped the clock at 2:31.00, earning the state time by .24 seconds and shaving off more than four seconds from her last week’s effort. But in the Girls 1500 Meter Run, Broyles easily earned qualification for state on her 5:15.56 run (5:20.24 state).

Kaua‘i’s Lauren Riley and Waimea’s Jayme Jacinto continued their search for a state qualifying time in the Girls 300 Meter Hurdles, but came up short.
The pair provided excitement for the fans in the process as Jacinto pulled out at the final hurdle to take the event on a 52.37 run, just a halfstep ahead of Riley who was clocked at 52.52, yesterday at Vidinha Stadium.
Both runners showed an improvement from their flip-flop finish of last week’s meet when Riley topped Jacinto on a 1:16.35 run. Jacinto finished at 1:16.66. The state time for this event is 50.14.
Kathleen Cadiente, a former Hershey’s track winner, earned a state time in the Girls 100 Meter Dash with her first finish of 13.14 (13.34 state), closely chased by her sister Kelsey who topped last week’s event just .01 of a second short of the state time. Yesterday, Kelsey finished at 13:56.
