The KSC-Blazing Angels handed Hawaiian Heat its first loss of the season and took control of the GU12 division of the Kaua‘i Soccer Association league standings.
The Angels blemished the Heat’s record with a 3-1 win in the first of the two games the teams played, Saturday, at the North Vidinha soccer fields. The Angels came back in Game 2 to battle the Heat to a 1-1 tie, but took the lead in the GU12 standings with a 5-0-2 record and 17 points.
Hawaiian Heat fell to 5-1-1 and 16 points.
Hokulele, which enjoyed a bye Saturday, is in third place with a 3-3-1 record and 10 points. Eastside Crew, a 4-2 winner over the Northshore Chargers, is 1-5-1 with 4 points followed by the Chargers at 0-5-1 and a point.
Cody Taniguchi scored two second-half goals to lead the Westside Pride to a 2-0 win over the Ha‘aheo Boys in one of the opening games in the BU8 division.
This was the Pride’s first win of the season and dropped the Ha‘aheo Boys to second place with a 3-3-2 record and 11 points followed by the Pride in third at 1-3-4 and 7 points. The Westside Falcons, enjoying a bye weekend, control that division with 4-2-2 and 14 points.
The Ha‘aheo Boys’ counterparts, the Ha‘aheo Teeny Wahine continue to maintain the lead in the GU8 division with a 3-0 edge over the Southside Lunachicks. The TW are undefeated at 8-0-0 and 24 points while the Lunachicks pursue in second place at 6-2-0 and 18 points.
Kapa‘a Blaze Gold, despite dropping a 1-0 decision to the Kapa‘a Blaze Diamond, holds third place at 3-5-0 and 9 points followed by the Diamond at 2-5-0 and 6 points while the Westside Falcons are still seeking their first win in that division.
The Westside Falcon 10, a 3-1 winner for the Kilauea Kilas, is in second place in the BU10 division at 5-2-0 and 15 points. With the loss, the Kilas drop to third place at 4-2-1 and 13 points. The Westside Falcon 9, enjoying a weekend bye, is in first place with a 5-1-1 record and 16 points, hotly pursued by its counterpart 10s.
The Lightning Sharks, taking a 3-2 edge over Team Motiv-8, finished with a 2-4-0 record and 6 points for fourth place while the Team Motiv-8 is still seeking its first season win.
Hokulele blanked the Kaua‘i Kickers 3-0 to keep its record clean at 8-0-0 and 24 points for first place in the GU10 division. With the loss, the Kickers remain in second place in the division with a 4-4-0 record and a dozen points. Real Waimea, picking up its first season win with a 3-2 edge over the Kaua‘i Sparks, finished the week 1-7-0 and 3 points for fourth place while the Sparks ended at 3-5-0 for third place and 9 points.
The Northshore Arsenal and the Westside Falcons each won their respective games to share the lead in the BU12 division, the Arsenal shutting down the Scrapas 4-0, and the Falcons coming out a 4-2 winner over Team Motiv-8.
With the results, both the Arsenals and the Falcons are 6-1-0 and have 18 points apiece. Team Motiv-8 drops to 1-5-1 and 4 points for third place while the Scrapas end with 0-6-1 and a point for fourth place.
Westside United, enjoying a bye weekend, is undefeated in the BU14 division with a 6-0-1 record and 19 points, followed by Eastside Lightning, battling the Eastside Galaxy to a 4-4 tie, closing the week at 3-1-3 and a dozen points.
The GIFC-Cougars, a 2-0 winner over the Northshore Spartans, finish the week at 3-3-2 and 11 points for third place in the division followed by the Spartans at 2-5-0 and 6 points. The Galaxy, 0-5-2 and 2 points, rounds out the division standings.
Ha‘aheo Kaua‘i, a 4-0 winner over Team Onipa‘a, holds the lead in the GU14 division with a 7-1-1 record and 22 points. Kaona, a 3-1 winner over GIFC-13, finishes with a 6-3-0 record and 18 points. Onipa‘a is 3-4-2 with 11 points and GIFC-13 finish at 0-8-1 and a point.
GIFC-East dropped a 4-3 decision to the Eastside Fusion but controls the lead in the GU18 division with a 4-2-1 record and 13 points followed by the Fusion ending the week at 2-4-1 and 7 points.
Games continue at the North Vidinha soccer fields on Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m.
