KAPA‘A — Jaezelle Balilea finished 2-for-5 with a grand slam, six RBI and scored twice in Kaua‘i High School’s 10-2 win over Kapa‘a High School yesterday in Kapa‘a.
Jori Jasper scored twice and was 2-for-2 with a home run and a single. Krystal Ijima went 2-for-5 with a single and a double. Kaua‘i’s best innings were the fourth and the seventh, scoring four runs in each of them.
Wailana Borrero pitched all seven innings for Kaua‘i and struck out four.
For Kapa‘a, Leilani Laranio scored and was 1-for-2 with a triple. The Lady Warriors’ only other run came from pitcher Melina Obar who finished the night 1-for-3.
Hanalei Gomes went 1-for-2 and Leeana Baltazar went 1-for-3. Larae Hoopii finished with an RBI.
The defending Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation champs remain undefeated in Round 1.
The next set of games will start at 10 a.m. Saturday when Kaua‘i hosts Waimea at Isenberg Park in Lihu‘e.
