Author Roberleigh Claigh will do a book signing and talk at Borders Books and Music at 2:30 p.m., tomorrow. “The Dictator’s Astrologer” is a historical novel based on the life of Afra Waesch, a well-known astrologer in Nazi Germany. Hitler had a team of astrologers to forecast propitious times during the war. Inevitably Afra came to his attention.
Most of the general public is unaware of the part astrology and the occult played in World War II. Even the British devised a complex astrological plot to bring down the Nazis.
Woven into the crushing Nazi regime are Afra’s experiences with Adolph Hitler and Heinrich Himmler, head of the dreaded Gestapo, her love for Egon Beyer, her daughter Ellen’s dancing career in the cabarets and touring with the Special Services, the death of her son-in-law in the snowy wastes of Russia, and Afra’s finally finding peace in sunny California.
This book also reveals Hitler’s mad obsession for power, his bizarre relationship with Geli Raubal, his conquest of most of Europe, his fatal blitzkrieg into Russia, the final desertion of everyone except the beautiful Eva Braun, the overwhelming destruction of Germany, and after the end, an incredible discovery.
“The Dictator’s Astrologer” is the tale of two people traveling in opposite directions. While Afra was striving to become more spiritual, Hitler’s only goal was absolute power that gradually cast him into darkness and despair.
Claigh’s talk will include some rare and unpublished photographs, as well an upcoming astrological cycle that will affect us all.
