Nineteen county of Kaua‘i employees representing 15 different county departments will be honored April 24.
These 19 workers represent the 2007 County Outstanding Employees and will be honored along with retirees and employees with years of service during the annual banquet which will be held at the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort and Beach Club.
Tickets for the event are available by calling Julie Souza at 241-6300 and are $35 for adults and $17.50 for children 6 to 12 years old. Children under 5 years old are free.
Organizers of the annual banquet said there is a deadline of April 10 to purchase tickets.
This year’s Outstanding Employees include Karleen Abalos from Civil Defense, Angeline Suzuki of the County Clerk’s Office, Jan Miyamoto from Economic Development, Naomi Sugihara of Elderly Affairs which is currently coordinating the Older Americans Month celebration.
Carlos Jamie DelaCruz is feted from the Finance Department with Makali‘i Andrade and Kaleo-o-Kalani Lopez being the outstanding employees from the Fire Department.
Earlier in the morning, Lopez was on hand to celebrate the dedication and blessing of the new lifeguard tower at the Anahola Beach Park where he will be stationed along with three other water safety officers.
Linda Cataluna is the outstanding employee from the Housing office, and Mary Daubert, tireless in her efforts at getting information on incidents out during all hours of the day and evening and during the weekends, is the selection from the Mayor’s Office.
Richard Aki, a familiar face for people who utilize the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall, joins Valerie Yadao as the outstanding employees for the Parks and Recreation department.
Les Milnes is the honoree from the Planning Department who joins Elliott Ke and Jay Watanabe from the Kaua‘i Police Department.
Jocelyn Barriga, who also spearheads the Kaua‘i Special Olympics program on Kaua‘i, is the outstanding employee from the Prosecuting Attorney’s office.
Craig Balmores and Richard Nakata of the county’s Public Works department will be honored along with Kyle Sadamitsu of the Transportation Department and Rona Miura of the Department of Water.
Additionally, retirees from the county during the 2007 year as well as longtime employees will be honored for their service to the people of Kaua‘i.
