The Trojans of Mililani High School continued their winning run in the first game of the day, yesterday, on Day 2 of the Waimea Softball Invitational at the Waimea Canyon Park.
In what was described as a pitcher’s battle, Mililani won out 2-0 over Campbell High School.
Campbell 13, Waimea 4
WAIMEA — Campbell scored three runs on three passed balls in its 13-4 win over Waimea High School 13-4 yesterday
Campbell got seven singles from seven different players yesterday. The Sabers were led in pitching by Bre Patton.
For Waimea, Ona DeFabian went 2-for-3 with a single and a double and Mariebeth Watanabe, Kelsie Igne and Laura Rita each hit singles. No additional statistics were reported for Campbell.
Kapa‘a 6, Waimea 6
Waimea tied its second game 6-6 with Kapa‘a High School. Waimea started Brandee Matsushima who was later relieved by Shelly Koerte. Koerte also finished 3-for-3 and DeFabian finished 2-for-3.
Kapa‘a started Melina Obar who was relieved later by Hanalei Gomes.
Mililani 9, Kamehameha Schools Hawai‘i 0
Tabitha Eseroma was the lone Warrior to manage a hit in Mililani’s 9-0 win over Kamehameha Schools Hawai‘i.
No stats were reported by Mililani.
Kaua‘i 17, Kamehameha Schools Hawai‘i 0
Wailana Borrero and the Red Raiders of Kaua‘i High School beat Kamehameha 17-0. Borrero and Jessica Iwata both finished with two hits. Krystal Ijima, Kawai Klattenhoff, Adriana Medeiros and Melia Aki each finished with one hit.
Tita Mahoe started for Kamehameha and pitched 1 2/3 innings, walking nine. Megan Waiki came in relief, pitching the remaining 3 1/3 inning, striking out three and walking three. Kamehameha managed three hits: two from Alyssa Manoha and one from U‘i Poepoe.
Kaua‘i 5, Kapa‘a 2
In the night game, Naja Pungan pitched for the Raiders to come up with the 5-2 win over Kapa‘a. Ijima led Kaua‘i with two hits. Alyssa Carvalho, Borrero and Jaezelle Balilea each finished with one hit.
No stats were reported for Kapa‘a.
The invitational wraps play starting at 9 a.m. today at Waimea Canyon Park.
Waimea will play Kaua‘i, and Mililani will play Kapa‘a. Both games are at 9 a.m.
Campbell plays Kamehameha at 11 a.m.
Championship games will be played in the afternoon.
