Gypsy Pacific, Maui’s first gypsy jazz quartet combines the chemistry and talents of guitarist Tom Conway, violinist Willy Wainwright, bassist Marcus Johnson and rhythm guitarist Phil Benoit. Gypsy Pacific specializes in gypsy jazz, a style first popularized in Europe by guitarist Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club of France. Come enjoy this energetic and unique acoustic experience.
Tickets are $35 general and $10 for students, available at the door.
Center Bethel College concert choir

The concert choir of Bethel College will present a sacred choral concert this weekend, starting tonight. An informal concert will be presented at the Koloa Missionary church 6 p.m. tomorrow and 8:30 a.m. Sunday at Kalaheo Missionary church. This is a free event. The program theme, “Forever” features music of various historical periods, hymn arrangements, gospel, spirituals and the music of other countries. The choir is under the direction of Professor Robert Ham and is accompanied by Dr. Robert Rhein and Marilynn Ham.
‘The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)’

“In by 7 and out by 8:40,” is how actor Ross Martineau describes ‘The Complete Works.’ The entire show takes 90 minutes for the players to perform Shakespeare’s 154 sonnets and 37 plays. Shows are on Friday and Saturday nights through March 15.
The KAPA Rehearsal Space and Theatre is located at 4411 Kikowaena Road in Puhi. Call to reserve a seat, but pay at the door, 246-8985. Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for students and seniors.

Shubhendra Rao on sitar and Ty Burhoe on tabla will collaborate in a classical experience of Indian music. Burho has been a disciple of the tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain since 1990. He is known for his sensitive accompaniment and melodious style. Burhoe creates unusual fusion with the traditions of jazz, flamenco, Celtic and bluegrass. Rao was a child prodigy on sitar at the age of three. He moved to Delhi at 18 to study with Ravi Shankar in the true guru-shishya tradition. He has composed music for international dance companies, theater and film.
