Hawai‘i plays non-conference game at UC Riverside

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The University of Hawai‘i men’s basketball team takes a break from league play when it faces UC Riverside in a non-conference match-up at 3 p.m. Hawai‘i time, today at the UCR Student Recreation Center.

The two teams were paired as part of the O’Reilly’s ESPNU BracketBusters pool.

The Rainbow Warriors and Highlanders will meet for the first time on the hardwood, with UC Riverside slated to play a return game in Honolulu early next season.

This will be Hawai‘i’s second game in California this week.

Hawai‘i (11-13, 7-5 WAC) is coming off a crushing 70-65 loss at Fresno State that dimmed the squad’s Western Athletic Conference title hopes and stalled a streaking Rainbow Warrior team that had won of four of five games.

UH looks to regain some momentum against a UC Riverside (6-17, 3-9 Big West) squad that has won just six of 23 games this year.

UCR however did pick up a home victory in its last outing on Wednesday, downing UC Irvine, 85-76, in a Big West Conference game.
