Kaua‘i 60, Lana‘i 45 Basil Walton led the Red Raiders to a 60-45 victory over the Pine Lads yesterday in the First Hawaiian/Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association Boys Division II State Basketball Championships at Pearl City High School on O‘ahu.

Basil Walton led the Red Raiders to a 60-45 victory over the Pine Lads yesterday in the First Hawaiian/Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association Boys Division II State Basketball Championships at Pearl City High School on O‘ahu.
Lana‘i High School led by a point after the first quarter. But Kaua‘i High School took off on a scoring spree, outscoring Lana‘i 21-9 in the second frame.
The Pine Lads were led by William Haban who finished the game with 10 points.
Kaua‘i (1-1 HHSAA, 9-1 overall) now move on in the consolation round and will play St. Joseph School (1-1, 9-7) for seventh place.
St. Joseph defeated Word of Life 38-37 yesterday at Moanalua High School.
The Cardinals were led by Jacob Andrade, Paul Battad and Royden Masulit who each finished with 9 points.
The Firebrands from Word of Life were led by Jared Shimaburo who finished with 10 points.
Kaua‘i and St. Joseph will play at 4 p.m. today at Moanalua.
