PMRF officials have announced the opening of the special-use fishing area at Kinikini Ditch now through Dec. 25, and again from Dec. 29 through Jan. 1. This extended time is due to the holiday stand down of the runway at the base.
The special-use fishing area north of Kinikini Ditch is normally available on weekends only when airfield operations are not being conducted. Normal hours for the area (6 a.m. to 30 minutes after sunset) will be in effect. Fishing, surfing and other beach activities are also available from Shenanigans to Majors Bay and up to the ditch.
These activities are available for people who normally have access to PMRF, as well as Recreation Pass holders. For more information, call 335-7936.
