The Church of the Pacific will present its annual re-enactment of the birth of Christ on two nights beginning at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow and 7:30 p.m. on Sunday on the church grounds of the Church of the Pacific.
Each show is a half-hour presentation which includes a performance by members of the Waioli Hui‘ia Church choir as visitors find seating beneath the stars or tent in the event of rain.
The show is put together by church and community members and is narrated by Pastor Glenn Frazier with background music.
The natural outdoor scenery of the church grounds will be augmented by a living nativity scene constructed by volunteers. The nativity scene includes actors playing the roles of Mary, Joseph and others, and will incorporate live animals; as a special note, there might be a replacement for the donkey featured during the scene of travel from Mary’s house and Bethlehem, which is normally played by a horse, in the form of “Koby,” the great dane.
In between shows, children can pet the goats and enter the church building for arts, crafts and games. Refreshments will be served on both nights.
The event is free to the public and the church suggests visitors bring warm clothes and a blanket or lawn chair. Parents with young children are encouraged to attend early if the children would like to be fitted in angel or shepherd costumes and take part in the re-enactment.
