If Tennessee quarterback Vince Young had a few receivers that could actually catch, Monday night’s outcome would have been a lot better.
Nonetheless, the Denver Broncos beat the Tennessee Titans 34-20. It was that pick that separated David Bice from me and Ron Wiley and gave him the panel win for Week 11. Bice finished 10-3. Wiley and I were 9-4 and Dickie Chang was 7-6.
Col. Jerald Knudsen of Kalaheo also picked Denver to win and was the weekly reader winner. Knudsen said his trick to playing Football Frenzy was to turn in two ballots, one with one set of winners and another with the other teams winning.
Amongst the winners, there was actually an eight-way tie of readers finishing 9-4. Knudsen edged them all out by predicting the tie break score the closest.
Champ Ono of Lihu‘e joins us on the panel this week. He was also the only one of us to pick Boise State over Hawai‘i. Who knows? That just might be the lucky pick.
The one I’m most concerned about is the Kaua‘i High School/‘Iolani School game. No. 3 Kaua‘i is 8-1 and No. 2 ‘Iolani is 3-4, so it would seem like Kaua‘i would have the advantage despite ‘Iolani’s higher ranking. The winner of that game advances to the state championship final.
On a side note, Dwight Akita of Kalaheo won an Oakland Raiders ticket package that panelist Bice was handing out on his radio show.
There is only one more week of the Football Frenzy left. The ballot for Week 13 can be found on page C4.
