Molly Joyce, John’s sister, was doing her homework at the Thursday night games, interviewing Korean War veteran Richard Silva while her friends Jasmine Silva and Madison Moore (great goalie) were having fun during the half.
William Trugillo didn’t have any games Thursday, but said he came to support the Westside teams. William’s 14 Onipa‘a team plays in the finals of the Wil Veeck, too.
Hats off to Bob French for doing such a great job with not only the Wil Veeck, but the finals for the AYSO Region 940 last week in Hanapepe.
The Wil Veeck is a good place to meet up with people like Pete Oliver who was enjoying being a spectator. Brian Yamamoto was out one night, and how does Jane Garma make it all the way out from the Westside for those 4 p.m. games?
Hats off to Moana Taa for another great Shattered Dreams program! Zack Octavio has always been there for the program, and this year, he had his omnipresent paramedic Cody Bonilla helping out as well. The event is always a reason to chat with Theresa Koki and Eric Honma, but when it’s in Waimea, you get to talk story with Gini Hori and Jeff Smith, and there’s always Aunty Lilikoi pie afterwards.
OK, time to get rolling before they shut the traffic for the parade in Kapa‘a. Happy Veterans Day, Kaua‘i! Stay safe!
