Five women’s teams completed the grueling open ocean course from Molokai to O‘ahu in Na Wahine o Ke Kai Sunday.
According to Brian Curl, president of Hui O Mana Ka Pu‘uwai Outrigger Canoe Club, Hui O Hana Ka P Kukui O finished sixth in the Masters 50 division on a crossing of 7:11:13.2.
Curl said the times of the teams were obtained from Pacific sports events and timing on its Web site.
Namolokama O Ha T Uira filled in the seventh berth of the Open class on a crossing of 5:45:53.6 followed by Niumalu CC Alapai finishing 21st at 6:05:21.1. Hanalei Hui Ohana rounded out the Kaua‘i showing in the Open class with a 28th finish, stopping the clock at 6:14:43.8.
Pu‘uwai Mano Wai Hooman rounded out the Kaua‘i showing in the event with a 10th finish in the Masters 40 division, stopping the clock at 6:46:44.1.
Pat Viernes aces Wailua No. 3
Pat Viernes picked up his career-third hole-in-one at the Wailua No. 3 Sunday.
The site manager for the Lihu‘e Neighborhood Center used a Callaway 4 Iron for the ace on the 226-yard hole at the Wailua Golf Course.
Viernes, 58, has been golfing for 27 years.
