Nana’s House in Waimea came out with a win-win situation recently.
Nana’s House, a beneficiary of the Zonta Club of Kaua‘i’s Women in Service Hands On Project, received a new coat of paint for three of its rooms as well as a hallway.
Additionally, by participating in the Hands On Project, the Zonta Club arranged for a $10,000 presentation from the Friends of Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Project to go to Child and Family Service which helps support Nana’s House Family Club.
The Family Club is designed to function without the stigma associated with “getting help.” Its activities are intended to provide parenting tips and child development information in a family-friendly form, said Sue Kanoho, the Zonta Club of Kaua‘i public relations chair, in a prepared statement.
Kanoho said in addition to the Zonta members, their family and friends, the club got help from Puhi Paint who donated the paint for the project, and Dennis Claussen of DC Painting for helping prep the walls and door frames in preparation for the workday.
Zonta Club of Kaua‘i is part of Zonta International, a worldwide service organization of executives in business and professions who volunteer their time, talent, skills and energy to local and international service projects designed to improve the status of women.
