Health care organizations are invited to take part in the county’s first annual health fair, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 14, in the breezeway between the Kapule and Pi‘ikoi buildings at the Lihu‘e Civic Center.
“County officials are encouraging community organizations to join us in promoting good health,” said Theresa Koki, anti-drug coordinator. “It’s a proven fact that if people are happy and healthy, they’re less likely to turn to drugs and alcohol.”
So far, the following groups have signed up to participate in the upcoming health fair: Alu Like; Alzheimer’s Association; Baby Safe; Boys & Girls Club; Department of Liquor Control; Ho‘ola Lahui; Kaua‘i County Agency on Elderly Affairs; REAL; and Tobacco Free Hawai‘i.
The health fair is sponsored by the Anti-drug Office in recognition of September being National Alcohol & Drug Recovery Month. For more information, please contact Koki at 241-6312.
