Kaua‘i teachers at the high school level attended the 13th annual Hawai‘i International Advanced Placement Program Summer Institute on O‘ahu this July. The AP Institute is a one-week intensive teacher training opportunity for both experienced and new teachers of AP courses. The 255 participants included 160 teachers from the state and 12 from Kaua‘i.
Objectives of the courses include understanding practical information for the implementation and development of AP courses; examine successful models for teaching both content and analytical skills, understand how to apply the themes and concepts of AP curriculum, identify textbooks and resources to support the curriculum, and understand AP activities, labs and demos.
Teachers attending the institute are able to earn professional development credits, or register for college credit through San Diego State University.
