The new school year is starting and Kaua‘i Planning & Action Alliance is starting the Community Volunteers in the Classroom program.
The CVC program promotes student volunteers who help support pre-kindergarten to sixth-grade teachers in a variety of ways. Some provide general classroom assistance, others tutor students, and a few help with clerical tasks.
It is an opportunity to launch a new school year by enhancing student learning of math and reading.
The program started in January and all volunteers are coming back. The program was only able to take a small portion of the returnees though.
Current volunteers have such “an amazing experience being able to help the students and watch them progress and learn,” one of the returnees said. “This is one of the best opportunities n and I’ve done lots of volunteering.”
Join this dedicated and enthusiastic group of volunteers as they partner with teachers and staff to make a difference.
CVC is supported by the Hawai‘i Department of Education n Kaua‘i District, Hawai‘i Community Foundation, Annie Sinclair Knudsen Memorial Fund, the Case Foundation, and A&B Foundation.
