HANALEI — Mercedes Maza of Art and Soul Gallery, Damian Miles of Renaissance Baby and Island Baby will host and celebrate a 20th anniversary exhibition of photography titled “Children Across America” that will run Aug. 15 through Sept. 15 with an opening reception for the artists to be held on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Known for his trademark flowery style, Miles brings to Hawai‘i a cross section of work representing 20 years of highly stylized portrait photography of children and their parents from across the United States. Working within what Miles refers to as “the natural divinites: Earth, water, sky, sun and flora,” he will exhibit prints as well as a slide show set to Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons.”
Miles, a summer/winter resident of Kaua‘i, said, “Every child deserves a beautiful image of themselves from their childhood, one that reflects how they are cherished.”
The photographer continues to create his heirloom portrait photography for local and visiting families alike. Miles’ slogan, “And remember, at Renaissance Baby and Island Baby, every baby is beautiful,” seems truer than ever.
Miles is available for bookings through Sept. 10 by calling 201-447-2221 or e-mail IslandBaby@hawaii.com. For more information please call Art and Soul Gallery at 808-826-1717 or e-mail info@maza-art.com
