Shana Tafiti was back at the KJ’s restaurant operation with her arm in a sling after being injured at the Kaua‘i Fantasy Softball Tournament.
But she is fine and receiving visitors, and grandma Paulette Grace was chatting with well-wishers while mom Jonell was out doing errands. Joe Grace is back from the Big Island and getting ready for Saturday’s ho‘olaule‘a at the Koloa Plantation Days where he said he’s got the family split up — one side doing pastelles and the other doing roast pork.
Larry Ephan was one of the spectators, watching his granddaughter Taylor Ephan doing the catching for Brandy Matsushima of Kalahalepakewai. From there, it was off to the Mixed Martial Arts event where daughter-in-law Sherri Ephan was on the fight card against Sally Krumdiack of Washington.
With softball on hold until the states, Sherwood Iida was able to get in some fishing for the Kmart 10th Anniversary Kaua‘i Shoreline Fishing Tournament. Hats off to Jared Chytka and Sandy Higa for spark-plugging a great event.
Bruce Smalling and Dickie Chang just rolled the Sheraton block party into one big event, continuing the festivities in the Kmart parking lot. Actually, Dickie was up early since he had to golf with June Jones, and if there was some ride heading to Hanalei, he probably would’ve done the Kaua‘i United Way tournament on Sunday, too.
If you want to know what a big hamburger is, you gotta go visit Lolly Silverman at Rob’s.
