Lois J. Ricciardi Piano Studios spring recitals, led by teachers Lois Ricciardi and Sally Wilson, presented two “Spring Hat Recitals” recently at the Lihu‘e Parish Hall. Students were asked to wear a hat that matched the theme of one of their pieces. “Students were very creative,” said Ricciardi. “They made hats out of all kinds of materials, or added things to existing hats.”
The purpose of the event was to present a visual image of what the music is portraying and to have students think more creatively about making beautiful music. “It was fun for both the students and the audience,” Ricciardi said.
Outgoing seniors were also recognized and parents thanked them for their support of music education and their help with refreshments.
There will also be a special senior recital given on Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Parish Hall. Students Dianna Cowern and Alyssa Launder, plus some special guests will be the performers for the evening. For more information, call Lois Ricciardi at 822-5633 or Sally Wilson at 821-0579.
