The Team Central 13 and under boys team finished as champions in the ZZ Basketball/Rotary Club of West Kaua‘i goodwill basketball tournament Saturday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Shane Agoot coached the team, which topped a field that included Outer Island teams from Kahuku, Nanakuli on O‘ahu, and one team from Maui.
Daniel Simao and Guy Higa coach the Team Central 15 and under boys team that finished third in that tournament that started Thursday night in Kalaheo.
Both teams will be heading to O‘ahu to participate in the 10th annual Brother Noland Tournament, which will be played on the campus of the University of Hawai‘i. The championship game for that tournament will be played at the Stan Sheriff Center.
According to Team Central Club Director Clarence Sales, this will be the club’s second appearance at the tournament hosted by Brother Noland.
The tournament also includes a concert and a banquet on the final day.
Team Central 13 and under members include Pita Taufoo, Jon Das, Keane Agoot, Kainalu Simao, Kainoa Calipano, Keoni Kinzi, Duke Pauli and Ka‘awa Solomon.
Manas Kshirsagar, Nikko Chow, Tyren Heppa, Cody Iwasaki, Canaan Higa, Austin Simao, Stevensen Rivera, Kaleo Cummings, Brian Andres and Kapono Cummings make up the Team Central 15 and under team.
