All the way from Michigan, Cadillac Joan has been following “The Happy Camper.” Joan and her son Matthew were at the Lihu‘e Hongwanji bon dance, Friday night, and had no trouble finding the flying saucers.
Ted Inouye was happy it didn’t rain at the bon dance, but has to worry about making sure the corn gets harvested before Sunday.
Over at the mall, Bill Arakaki was holding down the fort as coach Blanche was trying to get photos of Miss Kaua‘i Filipina Natasha Arakaki. Adams and Charmaine Bulosan had tickets for Saturday night’s pageant, and even Bruce Smalling was out to video the fashion show. Jonell Kaohelaulii was busy getting the dancers ready for the dance competition that followed the fashion show.
Chuck Brady was at the bon dance and said Waiohai is going to have its duck race on July 4 and 5 with proceeds to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network.
Gerald Ako was able to take in the Mustang championship game and still make it back to the first bot ball tournament. Hats off to Mia Ako, Mattie Yoshioka and Marleen Duarte (Ed Nakaya calls them the 3Ms) for a great event!
Dondi Viquelia, Mark Domingcil and Pat Baniaga did a great job with the Mustang playoffs, too. Congratulations to Milton Koga and all those Lihu‘e all-stars on the title, and hats off to the West Kaua‘i all-stars for being all-stars and having a great game!
Ceasar Duarte said, “It’s the best of the West and the best of the East!”
