Every year during “Be Kind To Animals Week,” the Kaua‘i Humane Society hosts its annual fund-raising dinner and silent auction. “This year we will be celebrating the passage of Hawai‘i’s first felony level animal cruelty law to protect our pets, our families and our community,” Dr. Becky Rhoades, director of KHS, said.
“We will be honoring Carol Ann Davis with our 2007 Mahalo Award for her years of volunteer professional photography creating treasures of our best friends,” writes Rhoades.
The silent auction will include gifts, jewelry, getaway trips and activities, wine and pet products. There also will be four drawing prizes at $10 per chance:
• Quilt — Especially made for this auction by the No Nene Quilt Group; value: priceless
• Tri-colored tennis bracelet — sapphire, emerald, ruby and diamond; value: $2,500
• Massage chair — value: $2,500
• Exceptional Po‘ipu experience — golf, delicious dining and one night stay; value: $1,000
“Please come enjoy an incredible evening with the Barefoot Natives and help the animals too,” she said.
