Aggression turned deadly when a 65-year old woman — who was holding one of her grandchildren at the time — was attacked by the child’s father.
Marie Annette Mundon, of Wailua, was standing in her driveway around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday night when the 27-year-old Wailua man drove up to the house and got out of his vehicle. He then shoved Mundon and grabbed the child from her, according to police.
A fight between Marie’s husband, James Mundon, 68, and the suspect, ensued.
When Marie Mundon tried to pull her husband away, the 27-year-old man kicked her in the chest.
After Marie Mundon complained of chest pains, her husband drove her to Wilcox Hospital, where she was treated for serious injuries.
She died Thursday at Wilcox Hospital from injuries that were possibly sustained during the Wednesday night altercation, Mary Daubert, county spokeswoman, said.
James Mundon sustained minor injuries but did not require medical attention.
