Kori Sakamoto’s JV basketball season may be over, but she was on the court doing referee duty Saturday along with Jayme Jacinto, the JV manager.
Coaches Bobby Kamakele and Pedro Saligumba were also doing duty at the Kaua‘i Police Activities League games up in Kalaheo.
Coach Crystal Kaya was trying to get away to the cheer camp being hosted by KPAL and the Kaua‘i High School cheer squad, but that game was too exciting.
Raider cheer coach Carrie Nakaahiki-Young said the girls totally enjoy working with their little students who come from the KPAL flag football program. In addition to the Raider cheer squad, Sherri Newcomb also brought over some of her Excel dancers (dance camp coming up this summer again!) and the students from last year’s camp who took second place in national competition in Florida.
Calvin Paleka was having another full-plate weekend. He had Herman Paleka (Outstanding Older American) on hand Saturday for one of the four shootouts at the KSA playoffs after working during the KIF Track Meet and heading to the basketball game.
Kevin Matsunaga had his entourage at the KPAL games and said they were all heading to the ACS Relay for Life from Kalaheo for early setup.
Hats off, too, to Cynthia Edralin, Mel Rapozo and all those involved in the MS Walk Saturday. What a great way to start the weekend.
