“Dear poets, music, dance, theater and visual artists, there are so many talented artists on Kaua‘i who could be sharing their talents and skills as ‘Artists In the Schools’ with the students on Kaua‘i at all grade levels. If you are one of them and wish to be on the SFCA program for Artists in the Schools for next year, please go the SFCA Web site and send in an application so that Kaua‘i schools would have their own pool of artists to request,” writes Carol Yotsuda of the Garden Island Arts Council.
Currently there are only two people from Kaua‘i on the list of approved artists for this program run under the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. With a mission to “advance the goal of ensuring that the arts are integral to the education of every student in Hawai‘i,” the rich pool of artists on Kaua‘i can add depth and diversity to this program.
Artists need to apply to get on the approved list in order to participate. For application forms and more information contact Vivien Lee, SFCA Arts Education Coordinator, at 808-586-0768 or e-mail vivien.lee@hawaii.gov. or visit www.hawaii.gov/sfca.
