Tsunami-prep workshops set

The Kauai Civil Defense will team up with the Kauai Visitors Bureau in meetings aimed at tsunami preparedness for businesses facing the possibility of having to evacuate guests or patrons.

Those operating hotels, condominiums, timeshares, bed and breakfasts, vacation rentals or recreational activities are invited to the meetings to better understand how to prepare for a tsunami.

This information is particularly crucial for those who own, manage or operate vacation rentals and bed and breakfasts, Sue Kanoho, executive director of the KVB said in an e-mail.

Though sometimes tsunamis offer hours to prepare, an event generated near Hawai‘i or within its boundaries could mean less than an hour to respond.

To attend, contact Christy Lagundino at the KVB at 245-3971 or via e-mail: clagundino@hvcb.org.
