Kelcie Yomen has been a Polynesian dancer since the age of 9.
She is an advanced dancer and assistant instructor for Urahutia Productions and will be teaching the 10 week session at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Yomen was an honor student at Kaua‘i High School where she graduated in 2006.
She is currently attending KCC under the Massage Therapy Program.
The sessions begin Monday with a fee of $50. Classes will last 45 minutes. Ages 5-12 start at 5 p.m. and 13 and older at 6 p.m.
Urahutia Productions also offers classes at the Kapa‘a and Kilauea neighborhood centers.
The Kapa‘a class is held every Wednesday. Ages 5 to 12 meet at 4:15 p.m. while 13 and older meet at 5:10 p.m.
The Kilauea class is every Friday for 5 to 12 year olds at 3 p.m. and 13 and older at 4 p.m. These classes are instructed by Mi Nei Oliver.
For the first time Urahutia Productions will be holding summer classes islandwide.
All classes in the Urahutia Productions Tahitian Dance School are under the direction of Mi Nei Oliver.
Mi Nei Oliver is the owner and director of Urahutia Productions.
She is the 2004 Miss Garden Isle, 26x 1st place Tahitian Solo Dance Winner and the only American to hold a Tahitian Dance Diploma from Louise Kimitete, Professor of Conservatoire Artistique Territorial of Papeete, Tahiti.
Recently crowned Miss Kauai, Cava Lei Wilson is an advanced dancer for Urahutia.
Sonya Balmores was also an advanced dancer for Urahutia when she was crowned Miss Hawaii Teen USA 2004.
Mi Nei is planing on taking some of her Advanced dancers to Tahiti this year to train at the Conservatoire and others groups that she has trained with such as O Tahiti E, Grand Ballets De Tahiti, Torea Ura Nui, Heikura Nui and Makau Foster.
Urahutia Productions performs every Tuesday and Thursday at the Poipu Shopping Village from 5 p.m. and every Monday and Thursday at the Princeville Resort Luau from 6 p.m.
