Happy birthday to Charlie King, Sally King, Lynne Cosner and Happy Pleas Preble who had Irish birthdays! This was a weekend for birthdays since Judy Lenthall of the Kaua‘i Food Bank (look for the food drive bags in today’s TGI) had her shindig Saturday. And there are more birthdays on tap … Don Ogasawara, Jennifer (the Blue House). Did I miss anyone?
Charlie got to celebrate his birthday by giving dollars to Scott Giarman, Loretta Geis and Lori Almarza of the Kaua‘i United Way. But it was all good since Carol Furtado took care of them with some of Charlie’s birthday cake.
Congratulations to Tom Leighton and all the supporters for the National Guard! The street poker run was a huge success. Angel McFarland is a neighbor of Myron Dobashi and got the general to come (in full uniform) to help pull the lucky numbers. Congratulations to Jason Iwata (Jessica looks good in motorcycle gear) for winning the Las Vegas trip.
Angel wore the military insignia of her great-uncle George Wade (who fought in World War I) atop her designer camos and cap, and said her cohort Crystal Horne was supposed to come with some green stuff from the leprechaun setup, but that didn’t work.
Bobby Paik was the only classic car that showed up for the fundraising effort for the National Guard, but he said everyone else had to ride in a funeral service the day before so he represented everybody.
In the meantime, Dan Lepley has the deadline for his moto-cross poker run coming up in a couple of days.
