Kapa‘a boys win by 5 strokes

Kaua‘i High School Nikko Tacsiat eagled on the fourth hole at the Mokihana course at Kauai Lagoons, which set him up for a good round of Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation golf play.

“I hit a good drive and that set me up for a short iron, for a 25-foot eagled putt,” Tacsiat said.

Tacsiat finished 2-over par to come out on top, individually.

Kapa‘a High School’s boys team, however, took the team win by 5 strokes, with the Warriors shooting 311.

Kapa‘a’s Maikai Laureta led the team with a 75, for 3-over par. Teammate Jet Levinthol shot a 76. Travis Toguchi shot 79.

Kaua‘i’s Wiley Yoshioka shot a 77, Cory Oride and Micah Yoshioka shot 81.

On the girls side, Kaua‘i Miki Ueoka dominated over the competition shooting 72 for even par. Kapa‘a’s Gabrielle Saiki was the lone golfer and shot an 84.

Waimea’s best girl Leslyn Ibara shot a 101.

KIF golf play moves to the Puakea Golf Course in Lihu‘e.
