There’s only one word to describe the county’s 14 and Under boys basketball season — WOW.
Cathy Agoot came out to watch her grandson Keane play, and he didn’t disappoint as he came up with all his points in the final period.
Steven Carvalho had two of the games and is impressed with the caliber of play. Gene Padilla was officiating the Thursday night game and said to make sure we get out to Waimea today for the opening of KIF baseball.
Greg Gonsalves said even with the ACT testing, the games should start at 12:30 p.m. Back to the basketball games, even Clyde Vito came to check on the games after closing the Teen Edge, and it was nice to see Tyrus Ceria-Lux helping to score for the younger players. The games were so exciting, even Krista Kali (remember her from Kaulupono 12 and Under girls?) came to watch the action.
Congratulations to all the coaches for doing such a great job with the boys. Bill Troutman said they’ve started practicing for the Termite league up in Kilauea and that should be rolling pretty soon.
Okay, so balancing between coach Ipo Yoshioka with golf at Po‘ipu, Judy Ta‘afuli and the Garden Isle Artisan Faire in Po‘ipu from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the KIF tennis in Po‘ipu and baseball out in Menehuneland … that’s a lot of miles. Oh well, can always get some Jojo’s Anuenue to beat the heat.
And, if there’s still rubber on the tires, check out the drag races, too. Just drive carefully.
